Frank Turner - I Am Disappeared

I keep having dreams
Of pioneers and pirate ships and Bob Dylan
Of people wrapped up tight in the things that will kill them
Of being trapped in a lift plunging straight to the bottom
Of open seas and ways of life we've forgotten
I keep having dreams

Amy worked in a bar in Exeter
I went back to her house and I slept beside her
She woke up screaming in the middle of the night
Terrified of her own insides
Dreams of pirate ships and Patty Hearst
Breaking through a life over rehearsed
She can't remember which came first
The house, the home or the terrible thirst
She keeps having dreams

And on the worst days
When it feels like life weighs ten thousand tonnes
She's got her cowboy boots and car keys on the bed stand
So she can always run
She can get up, shower and in half an hour she'd be gone

I keep having dreams of things I need to do
Of waking up and not following through
But it feels like I haven't slept at all
When I wake to a silence and she's facing the wall
Posters of Dylan and of Hemingway
An antique compass for a sailor's escape
She says you just can't live this way
And I close my eyes and I never say
I'm still having dreams

And on the worst days
When it feels like life weighs ten thousand tonnes
I sleep with my passport
One eye on the back door
So I can always run
I can get up, shower and in half an hour I'd be gone

And come morning
I am disappeared
Just an imprint
On the bed sheets

And by the roadside
With my thumb out
A car pulls up
And Bob's driving
And so I climb in
We don't say a word
As we pull off
Into the sunrise
And these rivers
Of tarmac
Are like arteries
Course the country
We are blood cells
Alive in
The blood stream
And beating heart of the country
We are electric
Pulses
In pathways
Of the sleeping soul of the country
We are electric
Pulses
In the pathway
Of the sleeping soul of the country
(We are electric)
The sleeping sould of the country
(The sleeping soul of the country x 2)

The Kooks - Naive

I'm not saying its your fault
Although you could have done more
Oh you're so naive yet so
How could this been done
By such a smiling sweetheart.
Ohh and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly world
Something so beautiful.
Ohh that every time I look inside

I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... Well, she's still out to get me.
And I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... She's still out to get me!

I may say it was your fault
Because i know you could have done more
Oh you're so naive yet so
How could this be done
By such a smiling sweetheart.
Ohh and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly world
Something so beautiful.
That every time I look inside

I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... Well, she's still out to get me.
And I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... She's still out to get me!

So how could this be done
By such a smiling sweetheart
You're so naive yet so
You're such an ugly thing
For someone so beautiful
That every time you're on his side

I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... Well, she's still out to get me.
And I know, she knows that i'm not fond of asking
True or false, it may be... She's still out to get me!

Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to your kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to your kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to this kite
Just don't let me down

Rancid to record new album later this year

Rancid will enter the the studio later this year to record their eighth studio album.

In a post on Facebook.com/rancid, the Californian punks told fans about their plans for the follow-up to 2009's 'Let The Dominoes Fall'.

"We are really excited about doing a small run of shows later this summer with our friends Blink-182. Immediately after those shows Rancid will be headlining four shows on the West Coast. Rancid has been taking an extended break for the last 18 months, and we thought that these shows would help us to get our chops up before going into the studio with [Bad Religion guitarist] Brett Gurewitz to record our eighth album in September."

"It's always good for us to go out and play some shows," add the band, "just to get us ready before going into the studio, and that helps bring that live energy to tape. We'll keep everyone posted with any new developments. 2012 will be a big year for us, because it's our 20th Anniversary, so we're definitely going to do our own tour all over the world. As always, we appreciate your support. See ya in the pit. Rancid."

For more details on their US tour dates with Blink-182 see the band's official site Rancidrancid.com.

Coldplay to release new single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' on Saturday (June 4)

Coldplay have announced they are to release a brand new single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' this Saturday (June 4). The single marks their first new material in over two years.

The band revealed the news on their official website Coldplay.com this morning (May 31) and have said they will be streaming the new track from Friday (June 3). They have also put up the single's lyrics and artwork.

The announcement ends a week in which the band have posted two cryptic updates, which are now revealed to have been lyrics from the new single.

Drummer Will Campion has also posted a message, which reads: "We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song. 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will be available digitally on Friday 3rd June at 12pm (BST), except in the UK where it'll come out on the stroke of midnight between Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June. We'll also stream it here on Friday and give it a run out at Rock Im Park."

The Rock Im Park festival takes place this weekend in Nuremberg, Germany, with Coldplay headlining the Saturday night (June 4).

The band have not said whether 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will feature on their forthcoming fifth studio album.

Titus Andronicus - A More Perfect Union

There'll be no more counting the cars on the garden state parkway
Nor waiting for the Fung Wah bus to carry me to who-knows-where
And when I stand tonight, 'neath the lights of the Fenway
Will I not yell like hell for the glory of the Newark Bears?
Because where I'm going to now, no one can ever hurt me
Where the well of human hatred is shallow and dry
No, I never wanted to change the world, but I'm looking for a new New Jersey
Because tramps like us, baby, we were born to die

I'm doing 70 on 17, 80 over 84
And I never let the Meritt Parkway magnetize me no more
Give me a brutal Somerville summer,
Give me a cruel New England winter
Give me the great Pine Barrens
So I can see them turned into splinters
And if I come in on a donkey, let me go out on a gurney
I want to realize too late I never should have left New Jersey

I sense the enemy, they're rustling around in the trees
I thought I had gotten away but the followed me to 02143
Woe, oh woe is me, no one knows the trouble I see
When they hang Jeff Davis from a sourapple tree, I'll sit beneath the leaves and weep
None of us shall be saved, every man will be a slave
For John Brown's body lies a'mouldring in the grave and there's rumbling down in the caves
So if it's time for choosing sides, and to show this dirty city how we do the Jersey Slide
And if it deserves a better class of criminal,
Then I'm'a give it to them tonight
So we'll rally around the flag, rally around the flag
Rally around the flag, boys, rally once again,
Shouting the Battle Cry of Freedom
Rally around the flag, rally around the flag
Glory, glory, Hallelujah, His truth is marching on

Dark Dark Dark - Daydreaming

Think of a place I would go,
I’m daydreamin’,
Where the sycamore grow,
I’m daydreamin’,
And oh if you knew what it meant to me,
Where the air was so clear,
Oh if you knew what it meant to me,
Anywhere but here.

Oh now look to the east,
Great mountains remember me,
Oh I wound around you for miles,
I sat down right there and stretched my bones.
And oh if you knew what it meant to me,
Oh if you knew what it meant to me,
Oh if you knew what it meant to me,
You would see, too.

Oh the unspeakable things,
It’s land I can see for miles,
With only the wind whispering,
Land I can see for miles,
With only the wind whispering,
Oh land I can see for miles,
With only the wind whispering,
Oh I’d run as fast as I can
Land I can see for miles
Oh I’m searching,
With only the wind whispering,
Oh if you knew what it meant to me,
Oh if you knew what it meant to me,
Oh if you knew what it meant to me,
You would see, too.

Oh the unspeakable things,
Oh the unspeakable things,
Oh the unspeakable things,
Oh the unspeakable things.

M. Ward - Fuel For Fire

My heart is always on the line
I've travelled all kinds of places
The song is always the same
Got lonesome fuel for fire

Got forty-fives to play at night
Got books to spend with every weekend
The story's always the same
Got lonesome fuel for fire

Fuel for fire, a bitter ending
Til a sweet, sweet death
Fuel for fire, the sour note inside
An orchestra wail
Fuel for fire, uncomfortable poses
Between famous last words
Fuel for fire, a missing person
In a small, small world

I dug beneath the wall of sound
I ended up back where I started
The song is always the same
Got lonesome fuel for fire

And so my heart is always on the line
I've travelled all kinds of places
The story's always the same
Got lonesome fuel for fire

Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows

We get some rules to follow
That and this
These and those
No one knows

We get these pills to swallow
How they stick
In your throat
Taste like gold

Oh, what you do to me
No one knows

And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
Ahh

I journey through the desert
Of the mind
With no hope
I follow

I drift along the ocean
Dead lifeboats
in the sun
they come undone

Pleasently caving in
I come undone

And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
Ahhh

Heaven smiles above me
What a gift here below
But no one knows

The Gift that you give to me
No one knows

Rise Against - Help Is On The Way

I have my mother's dreams,
I have my father's eyes,
You can't take that from me,
Just go ahead and try.
The crescent city sleeps,
While giants in the sky,
Preparing to unleash,
Let loose a mighty cry.

Can nobody save us?
Will anyone try?
The bayou is burning,
The cypress has died.
And all along they're saying.

Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
One by land, two by sea.
Right there in front of me.
Help is on the way.

Five thousand feet below,
As black smoke engulfs the sky,
The ocean floor explodes,
Eleven mothers cry.
My bones all resonate,
A burning lullaby,
You can't take that from me,
Just go ahead and try.

She stands at the shoreline,
With hands in the air,
Her words pierce the dark night,
Does anyone care?
And all along they say it.

Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
One by land, two by sea.
Right there in front of me.
Help is on the way.

Right here! Right here!

Choking on the black gold,
Upon which we rely,
We keep axes in the attics,
To see cameras in the sky.

Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
Help is on the way
(They said, they said)

We were told just to sit tight,
Cause somebody will soon arrive.
Help is on the way.
But it never came!
It never came!

Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
Help is on the way
(They said, they said)
One by land, two by sea.
Right there in front of me.
Help is on the way.
On the way.

[Review] The National ao vivo no Campo Pequeno, Lisboa (24/5/2011)

“England” e “Fake Empire” (outro grande sing along) encerraram a primeira parte do concerto.

Arctic Monkeys inspired by The Strokes for 2011 setlist plan

Arctic Monkeys's Jamie Cook has revealed how the band have gone about choosing their recent live setlists.

Speaking to New York Magazine, the guitarist also said the band enjoy playing the US recently "because the pressure is off." He added that US gigs-goers "are more willing to try things out. In the UK, everyone wants to hear the big songs."

Cook revealed that the band were inspired by The Strokes to open their set with 'The View From The Afternoon', saying: "When I saw The Strokes at Madison Square Garden, they started with the first song on their first album, and it was great. I thought we should do the same."

He added that the band try to keep the early part of their setlist full of faster songs such as 'This House Is A Circus', 'Brianstorm' and new single 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair'. "We try to do five that are pretty fast-paced before people get bored," he said.

Source: nme.com

Cook also joked that the band plan their setlist for fans who are on first dates. He said: "I imagine a fan bringing a date to our show who doesn't know us that well. We play loads of new stuff, and when we get to 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor', he turns to her and says, 'You’ll definitely know this one.' If she says, 'I don’t know this one either,' that’s when maybe you shouldn’t see much of her again."

The guitarist also hinted that 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala' will probably be the band's next single.

The National - Daughters Of The Soho Riots

I have your good clothes in the car
So cut your hair so no one knows
I have your dreams and your teeth marks
And all my fingernails are painted

I'm here to take you now

You were right about the end
It didn't make a difference
Everything I can remember
I remember wrong

How can anybody know
How they got to be this way
You must have known I'd do this someday
Break my arms around the one I love
And be forgiven by the time my lover comes
Break my arms around my love

Break my arms around the one I love
And be forgiven by the time my lover comes
Break my arms around my love

I don't have any questions
I don't think it's gonna rain
You were right about the end
It didn't make a difference

I'm here to take you now

Out among the missing sons and daughters of the SoHo riots
Out among the missing sons and daughters of the SoHo riots

I'm here to take you now

How can anybody know
how they got to be this way
You must have known I'd do this someday
Break my arms around the one I love
And be forgiven by the time my lover comes
Break my arms around my love

Break my arms around the one I love
And be forgiven by the time my lover comes
Break my arms around my love

Break my arms around the one I love

The Twilight Singers - On The Corner

From the field, the border-
Gomorrah-
on the corner-

Lick your lips,
desire-
the liar-
becomes divider

All rise with me
All take your place

Spread your legs-
insert your alibi
A handsome man he was-
the situation turned

You screwed yourself-
and let somebody else-
bust down, take your place-
and kiss your dirty face
All ride with me, all take your place
I'll ride alone, I'll take your place
Come taste the body, come on
Come waste the body, come on
They found the body turned on
Blood ties the body to the Son

All rise with me...

Noah And The Whale - L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N

Lisa likes brandy and the way it hits her lips
She's a rock 'n' roll survivor with pendulum hips
She's got deep brown eyes that've seen it all

Working at a nightclub that was called The Avenue
The bar men used to call her "Little Lisa, Looney Tunes"
She went down on almost anyone

From the hard time living 'til the Chelsea days
From when her hair was sweet blonde 'til the day it turned gray
She said, "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
You've got more than money and sense, my friend
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

"L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
What you don't have now will come back again
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

Some people wear their history like a map on their face
And Joey was an artist just living out of case
But his best work was his letters home

Extended works of fiction about imaginary success
The chorus girls in neon were his closest things to friends
But to a writer, the truth is no big deal

From the hard time living to the sleepless nights
And the black and blue body from the weekend fights
He'd say, "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
You've got more than money and sense, my friend
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

"L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
What you don't have now will come back again
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

On my last night on Earth, I won't look to the sky
Just breathe in the air and blink in the light
On my last night on Earth, I'll pay a high price
to have no regrets and be done with my life

"L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
You've got more than money and sense, my friend
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

"L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
What you don't have now will come back again
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

Access to a living you will not see
24 boredom, I'm convicted instantly
Gorgeous poverty of created needs

Slash and burn
Kill to live
Kill for kicks
3rd world to the 1st

Drain your blood and let the Exxon spill in
Look around here, you see nothing is very real
Chained to economy now famine has been

Slash and burn
Kill to live
Kill for kicks
3rd world to the 1st
Kill to live

That's all you need
That's all you need

Taste's real good not like a sweet poison should
Too much comfort to get decadent
Politics here's death and God is safer sex

The Vines - Ride

That's the start, the middle, and the end,
Aren't you glad the universe pretend,
If I don't get this message honed,
Once again I'm gonna hate alone,

Ride with me
Ride with me
Ride with me, ohh
Ride with me
Ride with me
Ride with me

Bored aloud, ignore the right to be,
Invite me down because we like to see,
The colours through your loaded mind,
Fuck the world and liberate our time,

Ride with me
Ride with me
Ride with me, ohh
Ride with me
Ride with me
Ride with me, ohh-hh

I'm not waiting a long life,
I'm not waiting alone,

Ride with me
Ride with me
Ride with me, ohh
Ride with me
Ride with me
Ride with me, ohh-hh

Queens Of The Stone Age: 'Our record will be done by the end of the year'

Queens Of The Stone Age will finish their sixth studio album later this year, frontman Josh Homme has said.
Speaking on BBC Radio 1, Homme said the band were heading straight back to the studio after they headline The Other Stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival.

Homme said: "We're going to take our one last break that we would get for a month, come back and do Glastonbury, then immediately jump in the studio. Our record will be done by the end of the year. We have enough songs."

Asked about the new direction of the album, Homme said it was unlikely to involve a radical new sound, as the band don’t "feel they have anything to prove." He said: "We're at a weird moment where we really don't feel like we have anything to prove. We just want to play to the people that are into us and we want to play right at them."

The band are booked to do a US tour in July and early August, with Homme indicating that these would be the first live dates where the band didn’t play the whole of their debut album in full, as they have been doing for the last few months.

He said: "I'm not going to lie: I'm sick of doing the first record. We've never played the same set list before."

The Courteeners - Bide Your Time

The temptation is all too great,
To know it's gone and it's all too late,
I tried and I tried, I never applied,
Any of the morals that I wish I had.

You wait fifty one weeks,
Through all of your hides and all of your seeks,
When the time finally arrives,
It dawns on me that your attention derives,
From the girlfriend that you left at home,
Sitting in your living room all alone.

You hate the suntan,
And you can't stand to be around the short sleeve man,
And the gaggle of girls who are singing too loud,
Well they do my head in.

You hate the tattoos and you can't handle the skinheads,
The ones who cannot handle their booze,
Their making you scared to be proud,
And your scared to be proud

But if you bide your time and you stand there and you wait in line,
It won't be long before her sarong is lying on your bedroom floor,
But what about your girlfriend that you left at home,
Sitting in her living room all alone.

You hate the suntan,
And you can't stand to be around the short sleeve man,
And the gaggle of girls who are singing dead loud,
Well they do my head in.

You hate the tattoos and you can't handle the skinheads,
The ones who cannot handle their booze,
Their making you scared to be proud
Why is that still allowed?
That your scared to be proud
When your on cloud number 9

And the girlfriend that you left at home,
Sitting in her living room all alone,

You hate the suntan,
And you can't stand to be around the short sleeve man,
And the gaggle of girls who are singing too loud,
They fuckin' do my head in

You hate the tattoos and you can't handle the skinheads,
The ones who cannot handle their booze,
And their making you scared to be proud,
Oh your scared to be proud
When your on cloud number 9.

[Review] Arctic Monkeys - "Suck It And See" (English)

I was very curious to hear this album, because after a totally different album from what the Arctic Monkeys had accustomed us, I was hoping to see how this would "Suck It And See" sound like. And after hearing him several times, I am very pleased to say that this is probably the best album from this English band.

This album can be divided into two parts: the first goes to the song "All My Own Stunts" and the second beginning in "Reckless Serenade" and ends with "That's Where You're Wrong."

The first seconds of "She's Thunderstorms are a bit strange, mainly because of the effects used on guitar, but it is soon left behind as soon as Alex Turner starts singing the first verse.

It follows "Black Treacle," that is probably the best song on this album. It's a song that brings us to the era of "Favourite Worst Nightmare" because of its sound more "lively", joining lines like this "Lately I've been seeing things, belly button piercings in the sky”.

"Brick By Brick" is a good song, but nothing special to note, except that it is sung by drummer Matt Helders.

Then comes "The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala" which is one of the best songs on this album, although it’s calmer than the previous songs.

"Don’t Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair" is the first single from “Suck It And See” and it is also the heaviest song on the album, with a clear influence from Queens Of The Stone Age

"Library Pictures", after "Black Treacle", is the best song on this album. It is a very interesting music with a heavy riff for a good piece of music, but then gives way to a very calm part, almost like a ballad.

"All My Own Stunts" is the song that brand again collaboration between Arctic Monkeys and Josh Homme, frontman of Queens Of The Stone Age, which makes backing vocals. If we divide this album, we can say that this song is also the last of the first part.

The second part is entirely composed of the quieter songs. It begins with "Reckless Serenade," which is followed by "Piledriver Waltz," a version different from that in the "Submarine EP" by Alex Turner.
"Love Is A Laserquest" is the least good song on the album, but is soon followed by another of the highlights of the album "Suck It And See," the song that named the album. This is the best song has the best lyrics on the album. I have to point out especially these verses: "That's not a skirt girl, that's the sawn-off shotgun and I can only hope you've got it Aimed at me."

The album ends with "That's Where You're Wrong", an excellent song which notes a clear influence of The Stone Roses.

We can say that "Suck It And See" is a mix of "Favourite Worst Nightmare" with "Humbug," and has also a taste of the solo work by Alex Turner. For all this, I think this is probably the best album of Arctic Monkeys.

9.5/10

[Review] Arctic Monkeys - "Suck It And See" (Português)

I’ve been seeing things, belly button piercings”.

“Brick By Brick” é uma boa música, mas sem nada de especial a realçar, excepto o facto de ser cantada pelo baterista Matt Helders.

Depois vem “The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala”, que é outra das melhores músicas deste álbum, embora num registo mais calmo que as anteriores músicas.

“Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair” foi o primeiro single anunciado e é também a música mais pesada de “Suck It And See”, com uma clara influência de Queens Of The Stone Age.

“Library Pictures”, a seguir a “Black Treacle”, é a melhor música deste álbum.

Tenho de destacar especialmente estes versos: "That's not a skirt girl, that's a sawn-off shotgun and I can only hope you've got it aimed at me".
