The Raconteurs - Salute Your Solution

I seem to think I think I got a little situation
So listen to me sister listen maybe you can help
I think I gave a lot of problems my consideration
But not for me they always seem to be for someone else

Why all the people always seem to just be on vacation
What do I get from never touching anything at all
I'm like a trash can holding all the information
And every single time I'm in the field to be taught

Salute your solution, now, salute your solution

I find myself just looking worthy of my best intentions
Ignoring any kinda pause I might receive at all
All others seem to find a road that's tough to satisfaction
I find a ridicule that isn't cool for me at all

And if there's one little answer to this complication
Someone somewhere some help me settle what is on my mind
There's only one I'm only taking getting and receiving
There's only one I'm taking
And only one I'm taking

And only one I'm taking
And only one I'm taking
And only one I'm taking
And only one

And I got what I got all despite you
And I get what I get just to spite you

And I got what I got all despite you
And I get what I get just to spite you

And I got what I got all despite you
And I get what I get just to spite you

I find myself just looking worthy of my best intentions
Ignoring any kinda pause I might receive at all
And all the others seem to find myself a satisfaction
I find a ridicule that isn't cool for me at all

But if there's one little answer to this complication
Someone somewhere some help me settle what is on my mind
There's only one I'm only taking getting and receiving
There's only one I'm taking
And only one I'm taking

And only one I'm taking
And only one I'm taking
And only one I'm taking
And only one

Depeche Mode - Wrong

I was born with the wrong sign
In the wrong house
With the wrong ascendancy
I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place
At the wrong time
For the wrong reason
And the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day
Of the wrong week
I used the wrong method
With the wrong technique

Wrong
Wrong

There's something wrong with me chemically
Something wrong with me inherently
The wrong mix
In the wrong genes
I reached the wrong ends
By the wrong means
It was the wrong plan
In the wrong hands
The wrong theory for the wrong man
The wrong eyes
On the wrong prize
The wrong questions with the wrong replies

Wrong
Wrong

I was marching to the wrong drum
With the wrong scum
Pissing out the wrong energy
Using all the wrong lines
And the wrong signs
With the wrong intensity
I was on the wrong page
Of the wrong book
With the wrong rendition
Of the wrong look
With the wrong moon
Every wrong night
With the wrong tune played
Till it sounded right, yeah

Wrong
Wrong

Too long...

I was born with the wrong sign
In the wrong house
With the wrong ascendancy
I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place
At the wrong time
For the wrong reason
And the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day
Of the wrong week
I used the wrong method
With the wrong technique

Wrong

Klaxons - Golden Skans

Light touch my hands, in a dream of Golden Skans, from now on.
You can forget our future plans.
Night touch my hands with the turning Golden Skans,
From the night and the light, all plans are golden in your hands.

Set sail from sense, bring all your young.
Set sail from where we once begun.
While we wait, while we wait.

A hall of records, or numbers, or spaces still undone.
Ruins, or relics, disciples and the young.

Light touch my hands, in a dream of Golden Skans, from now on.
You can forget our future plans.
Night touch my hands with the turning Golden Skans,
From the night and the light, all plans are golden in your hands.

We sailed from sense, brought all our young.
We sailed from where we once begun.

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Philadelphia

I was bruised and battered, I couldn't tell what I felt.
I was unrecognizable to myself.
I saw my reflection in a window, I didn't know my own face.
Oh brother are you gonna leave me wastin' away
On the Streets of Philadelphia.

I walked the avenue, 'til my legs felt like stone,
I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone,
At night I could hear the blood in my veins,
Black and whispering as the rain,
On the Streets of Philadelphia.

Ain't no angel gonna greet me.
It's just you and I my friend.
My clothes don't fit me no more,
I walked a thousand miles
Just to slip this skin.

The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake,
I can feel myself fading away,
So receive me brother with your faithless kiss,
Or will we leave each other alone like this
On the Streets of Philadelphia

Ryan Adams: 'I threw out 80 per cent of my album when I heard Laura Marling'

Ryan Adams has admitted Laura Marling helped inspire his forthcoming new album Ashes & Fire'.

The singer-songwriter said he ditched most of the songs he wrote for his 13th studio album after producer Glyn Jones passed on her 2010 LP 'I Speak Because I Can': 'I thought: 'For fuck's sake. I literally threw out 80 per cent of what I had. And it felt good to ask: 'What am I really capable of? I felt competitive again to write great songs.'

Recorded at Hollywood's Sunset Sound Factory, the album will be released on his own label, PAX-AM. Jones worked on Adams' albums 'Heartbreaker', 'Gold' and '29'. He is the son Ethan Johns, who worked with Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Who and The Rolling Stones.
Adams also revealed how he slipped into a period of heavy drug taking after he was diagnosed with Ménière's disease in 2006. This disease is a degnerative condition which affects hearing and balance.

"All the stuff I was doing exacerbated the disease," he told The Guardian. "You're not supposed to smoke, you're not supposed to drink alcohol, be stressed, eat salty foods. You're probably not supposed to do speedballs.

But the singer, who has since become sober, said taking opium helped him to write some of his songs. "I fully understand when people say Edgar Allen Poe used to smoke this stuff and have visions," he said. "I wrote the entire song 'How Do You Keep Love Alive' [from 2005's 'Cold Roses'] without writing a word down, and I played it on piano. And I've tried to understand the chord pattern ever since, because I can't fucking play it."

The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm comin' down
And I hope you're thinking of me
As you lay down on your side
Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

But I know I'm on a losing streak
'as I passed down by your street
And if you wanna show, then just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too
Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm comin' down

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too
Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

But if you wanna show, just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

I'm never going down, I'm never coming down
No more, no more, no more, no more, no more
I'm never coming down, I'm never going down
No more, no more, no more, no more, no more

Alice In Chains - Would?

Know me broken by my master,
Teach thee a child, love hereafter,

Into the flood again,
Same old trip it was back then,
So I made a big mistake,
Try to see it once my way.

Drifting body, its sole exertion.
Flying, not yet quite the notion.

Into the flood again,
Same old trip it was back then,
So I made a big mistake,
Try to see it once my way.

Into the flood again,
Same old trip it was back then,
So I made a big mistake,
Try to see it once my way.

Am I wrong?
Have I run too far to get home
Have I gone?
left you here alone

Am I wrong?
Have I run too far to get home, yeah
Have I gone?
left you here alone

If I would, could you?

Thom Yorke confirms Radiohead will tour in 2012

Thom Yorke has confirmed that Radiohead will be touring in 2012.

The band, who announced two shows in New York yesterday (September 20), have so far only played one live show, which consisted of a secret show at Glastonbury, in support of their new album 'The King Of Limbs'.

But speaking to BBC Radio 1's Giles Peterson, Yorke confirmed that the band would be touring, saying: "The idea is to go out and play next year on and off during the year."

The singer also indicated that Portishead's Clive Deamer, who played with the band during their Glastonbury set, would be part of the touring band.

REM announce their split

REM have announced their split.

After 31 years in the music industry, the band – made up of Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and Peter Buck – have revealed that they will no longer be making music together.

Formed alongside original drummer Bill Berry in 1980 in Athens, Georgia, the legendary alt.rockers have released a statement regarding their decision. It reads: "To our Fans and Friends: As REM, and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening."

The band released their 15th album, ‘Collapse Into Now’, earlier this year, which followed 2008’s ‘Accelerate’.

Semisonic - Secret Smile

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me

So use it and prove it
Remove this whirling sadness
I'm losing, I'm bluesing
But you can save me from madness

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me

So save me I'm waiting
I'm needing, hear me pleading
And soothe me, improve me
I'm grieving, I'm barely believing now, now

When you are flying around and around the world
And I'm lying alonely
I know there's something sacred and free reserved
And received by me only

Audioslave - Like A Stone

On a cobweb afternoon
In a room full of emptiness
By a freeway I confess
I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone

And on my deathbed I will pray
To the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone
Who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall
I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised
The wine was bled
And there you led me on

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone, alone

And on I read
Until the day was gone
And I sat in regret
Of all the things I've done
For all that I've blessed
And all that I've wronged
In dreams until my death
I will wander on

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone, alone

But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me

The Black Keys - Thickfreakness

Here I am, I'm not here now, no, no, no
And I'll care for you - hey that's all I want to do
Hold me, love me, in your heart
And I'll hold you near and I'll whisper in your ear
I'll take your hand and I'll make you understand
Hold me, love me in your heart

The Avett Brothers - Murder In The City

If I get murdered in the city
Don't go revenging in my name
One person dead from such is plenty
No need to go get locked away
When I leave your arms
The things I think of
No need to get over alarmed
I'm coming home

I wonder which brother is better
Which one our parents loved the most
I sure did get in lots of trouble
They seemed to let the other go
A tear fell from my father's eye
I wondered what my dad would say
He said, "I love you and I'm proud of you both,
In so many different ways"

If I get murdered in the city
Go read the letter in my desk
Don't bother with all my belongings
Pay attention to the list
Make sure my sister knows I love her
Make sure my mother knows the same
Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name
Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name

Nickelback - How You Remind Me

Never made it as a wise man,
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealin'.
Tired of livin' like a blind man,
I'm sick of sight without a sense of feelin,
And this is how you remind me

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
And I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"

yet? yet? yet? no no (x2)

It's not like you didn't know that
I said I love you and I swear I still do
And it must have been so bad
Cause living with me must have damn near killed you

And this is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
And I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"

yet? yet? yet? no no (x4)

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
And I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"

Yet? yet?, "Are we havin' fun yet?"
Yet? yet? "Are we havin' fun yet?"
Yet? (five words in my head) yet? "Are we havin' fun yet?"
Yet? (five words in my head) yet?

Editors - Papillon

Make your escape, you're my own Papillon
The world turns too fast, feel love before it's done
It kicks like a sleep twitch
My Papillon, feel love when it's done

It kicks like a sleep twitch

Darling, just don't put down your guns yet
If there really was a God here
He'd have raised a hand by now
Now darling, you're born, get old and die here
Well that's quite enough for me,
We'll find our own way home somehow.

No sense of doubt, for what you could achieve,
I'd help you out, I've seen the life you wish to leave.
Oh well it kicks like a sleep twitch
You will choke, choke on the air you try to breathe

It kicks like a sleep twitch

Darling, oh just don't put down your guns yet
If there really was a God here
He'd have raised a hand by now
Darling, you're born, get old and die here
Well that's quite enough for me too
We'll find our own way home somehow, how, how...
It kicks like a sleep twitch
It kicks like a sleep twitch

Darling, just don't put down your guns yet
If there really was a God here
He'd have raised a hand by now
Darling, oh you're born, get old and die here
Well that's quite enough for me too
We'll find our own way home somehow,
It kicks like a sleep twitch

It kicks like a sleep twitch

Papa Roach - I Almost Told You That I Loved You

You know I love it when your down on your knees
And I'm a junkie for the way that you please
you shut me up when you swallow me down
My back to the wall you're going to town

I almost told you that I loved you
Thank god I didn't because it would've been a lie
I say the damnedest things, when your on top of me
I almost told you that I loved you

I hate to say it but it has to be said
You look so fragile as I fuck with your head
I know it shouldn't but it's getting me off
If sex is the drug then what is the cost

I almost told you that I loved you
Thank god I didn't because it would've been a lie
I say the damnedest things, when your on top of me
I almost told you that I loved you

I'm not the one that you want, I'm not the one that you need
My love is like a fucking disease
You can give me your hand, you can make your demands
I'm the hardest mother fucker to please

Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I almost told you that I loved you
Thank god I didn't because it would've been a lie
I say the damnedest things, when your on top of me
I almost told you that I loved you

Coldplay - Clocks

The lights go out and I can't be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have brought me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead singing

Come out of things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head
And a trouble that can't be named
A tiger's waiting to be tamed singing

You are
You are

Confusion never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know singing

Come out upon my seas
Cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure?
Or am I part of the disease? Singing

You are
You are
You are
You are

You are
You are

And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares

You are
You are

Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go

Primal Scream: 'There'll be a new album next year'

Primal Scream are planning to release a new album next year.

Singer Bobby Gillespie, told NME at the weekend's Bestival on the Isle of Wight, that the band had written a number of songs for a new record which would be the follow up to 2008's 'Beautiful Future'.

Speaking in a video interview, which can be seen above, Gillespie said: "We've recorded some new music, quite a lot of new music actually and written a lot of new music."

He added: "But we've been touring this 'Screamadelica' show for such a long time. We'll continue working on [the new material] until the end of October and the winter. Hopefully we'll have a new Primal Scream album out next year."

When asked about the sound of the new material Gillespie added: "Nothing's finished, it's still a work in progress."

Clinic - If You Could Read Your Mind

What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishin' well

In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
And I will never be set free
As long as I'm a ghost that you can't see

If I could read your mind, love
What a tale your thoughts could tell
Just like a paperback novel
The kind that drugstores sell

When you reach the part
Where the heartaches come
The hero would be me but heroes often fail
And you won't read that book again
Because the ending's just too hard to take

I'd walk away like a movie star
Who gets burned in a three way script
Enter number two, a movie queen to play the scene
Of bringing all the good things out in me

But for now love, let's be real
I never thought I could feel this way
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back

If you could read my mind, love
What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishin' well

In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
Stories always end
And if you read between the lines
You'll know that I'm just tryin' to understand
The feelin's that you lack

I never thought I could feel this way
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feelin's gone and I just can't get it back

What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie

Guns n' Roses - Paradise City

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Just an urchin living under the street
I'm a hard case that's tough to beat
I'm your charity case
So buy me something to eat
I'll pay you at another time
Take it to the end of the line

Rags to riches or so they say
You got to - keep pushing for the fortune and fame you know
It's all a gamble when it's just a game
You treat it like a capital crime
Everybody's doing their time

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Strapped in the chair of the city's gas chamber
Why I'm here I can't quite remember
The surgeon general says it's hazardous to breathe
I'd have another cigarette but I can't see
Tell me who you're going to believe

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

So far away (4x)

Captain America's been torn apart
Now he's a court jester with a broken heart
He said -
Turn me around and take me back to the start
I must be losing my mind -
"Are you blind?!"
I've seen it all a million times

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

I wanna go
I wanna know
Oh, won't you please take me home

I wanna see
Oh, look at me
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down
Beat me down
Oh, won't you please take me home

I wanna see
Oh, look at me
Oh, won't you please take me home

I wanna see
Boy, I'm going to be mean
Oh, oh take me home

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home

I wanna go
I wanna know
Oh, won't you please take me home
Yeah, baby
Yeah

Metallica - Master Of Puppets

End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths construction
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
Dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
Dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Master, Master, where's the dreams that I've been after?
Master, Master, you promised only lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear or see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries
Fix me!

Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, Drift on numbered days
Now your life is out of season
I will occupy
I will help you die
I will run through you
Now I rule you too

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master

Nickelback announce new album 'Here And Now'

Nickelback have announced that they will release their seventh studio album 'Here And Now' on November 21.

The album, which is the follow-up to the band's 2008 sixth album 'Dark Horse', was recorded in Mountain View Studios in Vancouver and saw the band themselves acting as producers.

The band have also announced that they will preview 'Here And Now' with two singles. The tracks, which are titled 'Bottom's Up' and 'When We Stand Together', will both be released in quick succession before the LP. 'Bottom's Up' will come out on October 2, with 'When We Stand Together' following on November 6.

Frontman Chad Kroeger said of the album: "We're four people who love making music, the way we like to make it. We entered the studio this year with a vision, and it all came together. We're extremely happy with the results, and can’t wait to share them with our fans."

The Coral - Dreaming Of You

What's up with my heart when it skips a beat (skips a beat)
Can't feel no pavement right under my feet (under my feet)

Up in my lonely room
When I'm dreaming of you
Oh what can I do (wah oooo)
I still need you, but
I don't want you now

When I'm down and my hands are tied (hands are tied)
I cannot reach a pen for me to draw the line (draw the line)
From this pain I just can't disguise (can't disguise)
Its gonna hurt but I'll have to say goodbye (say goodbye)

Up in my lonely room
When I'm dreaming of you
Oh what can I do (wah oooo)
I still need you, but
I dont want you now

Oh yeah

Ohhh Ohhhhh

Up in my lonely room
When I'm dreaming of you
Oh what can I do (wah oooo)
I still need you, but
I dont want you now

Kasabian, Noel Gallagher and Radiohead named early favourites for 2012 Mercury Prize

Kasabian, Noel Gallagher and Radiohead have been named as early favourites for the 2012 Mercury Prize by bookmakers.

William Hill has published an extremely early list of potential nominees for the prize in 2012, with the Leicester band's fourth album 'Velociraptor!' named as the favourite, just ahead of the former Oasis man's solo debut 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds'.

Other artists named with short odds are Florence And The Machine, whose second album is due in November, Coldplay's fifth album 'Mylo Xyloto' and Mumford and Sons' forthcoming second album.

Radiohead are also ranked third favourites at 8/1, despite having only released their latest studio album 'The King Of Limbs' earlier this year and strong rumours that they will be touring in the coming months rather than recording new material.

PJ Harvey won the Barclaycard Mercury Prize for a second time on Tuesday night (September 6), taking the £20,000 cheque for her album 'Let England Shake'.

The odds for the Mercury Prize in 2012 are as follows:

Kasabian (7/1)
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (8/1)
Radiohead (8/1)
Ed Sheeran (10/1)
Florence And The Machine (10/1)
Coldplay (12/1)
Mumford & Sons (16/1)

Yuck - Get Away

break it down and then break it up again
me and my guitar drowning down and down
not even the pain kicks in
tell me when the pain kicks in

oh i can't get away

panoramic view, that's one thing i won't do
no shouted abuse from the corner of my mind
not even the pain kicks in
tell me when the pain kicks in

oh i can't get away

summer sun says get out more, i need you
i want you but i can't get this feeling off my mind
i want you, i need you

i can't get away

summer sun says get out more, i need you
i want you but i can't get this feeling off my mind
i want you, i need you

The White Stripes - Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground

Dead leaves and the dirty ground
when I know you're not around
shiny tops and soda pops
when I hear your lips make a sound

Thirty notes in the mailbox
will tell you that I'm coming home
and I think I'm gonna stick around
for a while so you're not alone

If you can hear a piano fall
you can hear me coming down the hall
if I could just hear your pretty voice
I don't think I need to see at all

Soft hair and a velvet tongue
I want to give you what you give to me
and every breath that is in your lungs
is a tiny little gift to me

I didn't feel so bad till the sun went down
then I come home
no one to wrap my arms around

Well any man with a microphone
can tell you what he loves the most
and you know why you love at all
if you're thinking of the holy ghost

Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You

Working from seven to eleven every night,
It really makes life a drag, I don't think that's right.
I've really been the best, the best of fools, I did what I could, yeah.
'Cause I love you, baby, How I love you, darling, How I love you, baby,
I'm in love with you, girl, little girl.
But baby, Since I've Been Loving You, yeah.
I'm about to lose my worried mind, ah, yeah.

Everybody trying to tell me that you didn't mean me no good.
I've been trying, Lord, let me tell you, Let me tell you I really did the best I could.
I've been working from seven to eleven every night,
I said It kinda makes my life a drag, drag, drag, drag..
Lord, yeah, that ain't right... no no
Since I've Been Loving You, I'm about to lose my worried mind.

Said I've been crying, yeah, oh my tears they fell like rain,
Don't you hear them, Don't you hear them falling,
Don't you hear them, Don't you hear them falling.

Do you remember mama, when I knocked upon your door?
I said you had the nerve to tell me you didn't want me no more, yeah
I open my front door, I hear my back door slam,
You know I must have one of them new fangled, new fangled back doors man.

I've been working from seven, seven, seven, to eleven every night
And It kinda makes my life a drag...
a drag, drag, oh yeah it makes a drag.
Baby, Since I've Been Loving You,
I'm about to lose, I'm about lose lose my worried mind.
Just One more, Just One more
Oh yeah, since I've Been Loving You, I'm gonna lose my worried mind.

[Review] The Horrible Crowes - "Elsie" (English)

Since this side project of Brian Fallon, lead singer of the Gaslight Anthem, was announced I was eager to hear the album. First, because I am a great admirer of the talent of Brian Fallon, and second, because I was curious to know if The Horrible Crowes would be only a The Gaslight Anthem under a different name. And I can already tell that this "Elsie" completely exceeded my expectations.

It begins with the quiet and sad, "Last Rites" which just leaves the impression that this band is completely different from the one that made Fallon a famous musician.

This album explores the somewhat darker side of soul music that has always inspired Brian Fallon, both lyrically, and the manner of singing. Some of the artists that inspired this album were Tom Waits and PJ Harvey.

On this album there are many references to a female person who inspires Fallon to write beautiful songs like "Sugar" or "Crush". There is also (and this is new) religious references, the most obvious being the last song, "I Believe Jesus Brought Us Together."

Although, overall, this album is very different than the earlier work of Brian Fallon, it is impossible to miss the sound of The Gaslight Anthem on songs like "Behold The Hurricane" and "Go Tell Everybody".

After about 45 minutes we reached the conclusion that "Elsie" is a beautiful tribute to love, life and even death. This album also reveals the great complicity between Brian Fallon and Ian Perkins, the other half of The Horrible Crowes. I’m sure that without this partner, Fallon would not have made such a personal and introspective album as this one. We can only hope that, unlike many other side projects of other artists, this one is here to stay and not be just for the release of an album and to do some concerts.

8.5/10

[Review] The Horrible Crowes - "Elsie" (Português)

I Believe Jesus Brought Us Together”.

8.5/10

Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma

Who gives a fuck about an oxford comma?
I've seen those english dramas too
They're cruel
So if there's any other way
To spell the word
It's fine with me, with me

Why would you speak to me that way
Especially when I always said that I
Haven't got the words for you
All your diction dripping with disdain
Through the pain
I always tell the truth

Who gives a fuck about an oxford comma?
I climbed to dharamsala too, I did
I met the highest lama
His accent sounded fine
To me, to me

Check your handbook
It's no trick
Take the chapstick
Put it on your lips
Crack a smile
Adjust my tie
Know your boyfriend, unlike other guys

Why would you lie about how much coal you have?
Why would you lie about something dumb like that?
Why would you lie about anything at all?
First the window, then it's to the wall
Lil' Jon, he always tells the truth

Check your passport
It's no trick
Take the chapstick
Put it on your lips
Crack your smile
Adjust my tie
Know your butler, unlike other guys

Why would you lie about how much coal you have?
Why would you lie about something dumb like that?
Why would you lie about anything at all?
First the window, then it's through the wall
Why would you tape my conversations?
Show your paintings
At the united nations
Lil' Jon, he always tells the truth
