The Strokes: 'We're back in the recording studio already'

The Strokes have revealed they are already back in studio and are recording the follow up to fourth album 'Angles', which was released earlier this year.

Speaking exclusively to NME, bassist Nikolai Fraiture said that the band had already done "a little bit" of recording.

He said: "We already went back (in the studio) a little bit. When we have a couple of week off time off we also go back into the studio to see how things progress and not leave them (too long)."
The bassist added: "I don't think it's 'urgent' in the way that we feel pushed. It's 'urgent' in the way we want to work on music and keep the up momentum that we've managed to build up to now."

Fraiture added that band relations were good, saying: "Right now everyone's getting along, we're all travelling together, it's a good vibe."

The Strokes – Under Cover Of Darkness

Slick back out of whack at your best.
It's a nightmare,
So I'm joining the army.

Know how folks back out, I still call.
Will you wait for me now?

We got the right to live, fight to use it,
Got everything but you can just choose it.
I won't just be a puppet on a string

Don't go that way.
I'll wait for you.

And I'm tired of all your friends
Listening at your door
And I want, what's better for you.

So long, my friend and adversary.
But I'll wait for you.

Get dressed, jump out of bed and do it best.
Are you OK?
I've been all around this town
Everybody's been singing the same song for ten years.

I'll wait for you.
Will you wait for me too?

And they sacrifice their lives
In the land are all closed eyes.
I've been saying it a billion times,
and I'll say it again.
So long my adversary and friend.

Don't go that way.
I'll wait for you.

I'm tired of all your friends,
Knocking down your door.
Get up in the morning, give it your all.
So long, my friend and adversary.
Oh I'll be waitin' for you.

[Review] The Strokes - Angles (English)

The buzz about the successor of "First Impressions Of Earth" was enormous, mainly because this album was released in 2006.
Fans of the Strokes were expecting a great album and this expectation was further fueled by the first single from "Angles", "Under Cover Of Darkness".

The band's bassist, Nikolai Fraiture, told “Rolling Stone” that the album would be a return to the original sound of the band and this is what occurred in the first two songs, "Machu Pichu", despite having a more reggae sounding and "Under Cover Of Darkness", which is a throwback to the great music of the Strokes.

"Two Kinds Of Happiness" and "You're So Right" are two examples of change in the sound of the Strokes, with a clear influence of the 80’s.

"Taken For A Fool" is a good music, although without reaching the level of the best in this album. Moreover, the two songs that follow, "Games" and "Call Me Back" were perfectly dispensable. "Gratisfaction", which is in the same level of "Under Cover of Darkness", makes you quickly forget the previous two songs.

"Metabolism" brings nothing new to "Angles", which closes with "Life Is Simple In The Moonlight," a good song to finish this album.

This change in the sound of the Strokes was obviously not well done and the proof is that the best songs on this album, "Under Cover Of Darkness" and "Gratisfaction", are those that most resemble the common sound of the band. Except "Life Is Simple In The Moonlight", all songs of this new style of the band are pretty mediocre.

[Review] The Strokes - Angles (Português)

Tirando o caso de “Life Is Simple In The Moonlight”, todas as músicas deste novo estilo da banda são bastante medíocres.
