Biffy Clyro reveal the name of their new double album
Biffy Clyro have revealed the title of their new studio album, which is the sixth of their career so far.
The album, which is a double LP, will consist of two records, one titled 'The Land At The End Of Our Toes' and another titled 'The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones'.
The band have spent the last year working on the album and have recorded it in Los Angeles. It is due for release later this summer and is the follow-up to their 2009 album 'Only Revolutions'.
Speaking about the album in this week's NME, drummer Ben Johnston said: "We don't want to pigeon hole it as a 'big rock album', so we're trying to make a diverse collection of songs."
Biffy Clyro will debut tracks from 'The Land At The End Of Our Toes' and 'The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones' at a series of summer festivals, including Download and Rockness.

Biffy Clyro: 'We're making a double album'
Biffy Clyro have revealed that their sixth studio album will be a double album.
The band are currently working on the follow-up to their fifth LP 'Only Revolutions' and have said that they hope to complete work on the album by April.
Speaking to Q, the band's frontman Simon Neil said that the album will be mostly recorded in Los Angeles and they hope to have it done by April.
He said: "We're going to make a double album, so the intention is to do most of the recording in L.A and then do more of it elsewhere. We'll hopefully get it done by April, May and go out and play some shows. The album might come out before summer but it's likely to be just after that."
Neil also joked that the band have given the album the working title of 'Use Your Illusion III' and 'Use Your Illusion IV' in honour of Guns N' Roses' 1991 double album 'Use Your Illusion I' and 'Use Your Illusion II'.

It's an album about a fork in the road and how your decisions can take you on one path or the other. One path is the right decisions and one path is the wrong decisions - and each album's going to represent each path."

Biffy Clyro working on 'really obscure' new material
Biffy Clyro have revealed that the new material they have been writing for their sixth studio album is "really obscure".
The Scottish rockers, who first hinted that they were planning to start work on a new LP in March of this year and promised to "bring different elements" to their sound, told BBC 6 Music that their new tracks touched upon influences including country-prog and goth-rock.
Speaking about the sessions for the new record, frontman Simon Neil said: "We've got some really obscure things going on. We've got a kind of prog country song, which we never thought we'd do, and some weird kind of math rock stuff meets almost goth rock. It's hard to explain just yet but there are moments that are odd."

The singer also joked that the band had so much new material that they might be unable to fit it on a single LP, adding: "We're working pretty hard. We're now up to about 30 songs so maybe a double album, the dreaded 'D' word."

Biffy Clyro - Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies
Come on baby do you think it's good to feel
Like I'm lying here swimming in memories
I fear God because everything dies babe
Got a gun in the back of my car
A spasm of good sense is making my eye twitch
I've had enough of all your consolation
I'm drowning caught in a shit tide
Tape my face to the inside of love
Nothing to eat but fears in the back seat
Well I've met God and he had nothing to say to me
I pray to God that you're right before my eyes
Bathed in white light with halos in your eyes
Don't wanna waste no more time
Time's what we don't have
Everywhere I look someone dies
Wonder when it's my turn
How well do you know me?
Leave an open door, what you looking for
Babe when you come down?
I built a time machine to escape from
All the pain in the back of my car
Living's a problem because everything dies babe
Save yourself you're not too far away
I pray to God that you're right before my eyes
Bathed in white light with halos in your eyes
Don't wanna waste no more time
Time's what we don't have
Everywhere I look someone dies
Wonder when it's my turn

Review - Can Biffy Clyro hack it as a Sonisphere headliner?
At the weekend Biffy Clyro put their rock credentials to the ultimate test - they headlined the second night (9 July) of the UK leg of Sonisphere.
A pan-European touring event, the likes of Iron Maiden, Metallica and Slipknot, rather than the Scots, are usually found in the upper echelons of its bills. Joe Bishop ventured to Knebworth House to see if Biffy Clyro could make the step up and take their place among rock and metal's elite:
Biffy Clyro have built an impressive festival reputation for themselves over the last few years. From being that strangely named, cult-adored Scottish trio, they have worked their way up from the smaller stages at events like Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds to take big spots on their main stages - often occupying the position of the being rockers who give festivals some much needed edge. However, metal and rock festivals represent an entirely different arena for Simon Neil and co.
It doesn't matter how sunny it is, there are droves of revelers caked head-to-toe in black leather, black t-shirts, those weird trousers that look like parachute harnesses and so on. They are hardcore fans who, given the right song, will make sure you're hurtled in every direction of a compass if you dare venture near 'the pit'. And what better to get the angry contingent more riled up than the appearance of the "Big Four": Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica, all on the first afternoon (8 July).
That's not only a lot moshing the fans got to do, but it's also an incredibly difficult act to follow.
So can Biffy Clyro, a band who had one of their songs covered by the last X Factor champion, win over this crowd? Saturday's penultimate band, Weezer - another unlikely, antithesis of metal booking - at least leave the trio good omens as they get a good reaction from the jovial crowd, but some in the crowd are doubting whether the next band are worthy Knebworth headliners.
"I don't know man, after the 'Big Four' yesterday if Biffy have what it takes to pull off something like this," argues 20 year-old Brian Lowry of St Albans. "I'm going to watch it, yeah, but I don't how it'll go."
"I don't know man, after the 'Big Four' yesterday if Biffy have what it takes to pull off something like this," argues 20 year-old Brian Lowry of St Albans. "I'm going to watch it, yeah, but I don't how it'll go."
It turns out Brian's doubts are unwarranted. If you can charm Saturday evening TV grannies to buy your songs - albeit through Matt Cardle - you can charm anyone it seems and Sonisphere's black clad minions are no exception as Biffy Clyro storm the festival's Apollo Stage in fine form.
The set's fast moments prove as heavy and punchy as anything else on offer at the event, and unlike many others on the bill, Biffy also possess an arsenal of slower songs, that with their swelling, heartfelt melodies actually create a 'moment' or several amongst the Knebworth crowd. We won't claim we saw hardened metallers with tears in their eyes, but nearly...
A large part of what makes an act capable of headlining a festival isn't their music, its their attitude, and it is that the same confidence that has driven Biffy Clyro to the summits of mainstream events, that sees them prevail at Sonisphere. Of course a little playing to the gallery doesn't hurt, and nearing the end of the set Neil acknowledges the rock conditions, not only with a devil horns for the crowd, but by adding a few bars of Slayer's Raining Blood into the opening of their own There's No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake.
"We know it's a metal festival, so thanks for coming out and supporting us," declares the frontman as their set reaches its climax, but it seems the love is not just going one way. Plenty of hardcore rockers leave impressed by Biffy, but the metal crowd themselves have done something unique to the band. "They totally did it, it was so brilliant," declares 19 year-old Emma Taylor of Worcester who as a "huge Biffy fan" is slightly overawed by what she's just witnessed. "I've seen them before, but never like that. They had so much more energy!"
So yes Biffy Clyro can hack it as a metal festival headliner - the question now is if the band can live without this kind of crowd?

Biffy Clyro say 'Fuck the rain with a big fat cock' at Glastonbury
Biffy Clyro played their first Pyramid Stage show at Glastonbury festival tonight (June 24), and had a stern warning for the weather. "Fuck the rain... with a big fat cock," said frontman Simon Neil before an acoustic version of 'Machines'.
Before the show bassist James Johnston spoke to NME about how the Scottish band had been "panicking" over their set, despite being festival veterans.
"We've played here a few times now, but never on the main stage, so now we're just panicking over what's going to work and what's not going to work," he said. "It's all kick off when we take our tops off... we're basically a rock band and we're really proud to bring a rock show to Glastonbury."

The show was indeed a typically topless affair for all three core band members. Neil flew in the face of the mud and the gloomy weather by sporting a pair of pristine pink Converse sneakers.
Neil sang the intro to Sunday night headliner Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love' during their 14-song set.

Biffy Clyro - Semi-Mental
I smoke my face in, night after night
To numb the pain and stop the world spinning round and round
But how was I to know that in my mind I'm not so pure
Look into my eyes you can see I'm many different people
You shone a light on my life, now I'm just sentimental
You shone a light on my life, now I'm just sentimental
I'm not a drinker, I try it every night
I force it down to throw it up and start all over again
But I will climb a tower to stick my flag on top
And look down on everyone, help me to salute the people
You shone a light on my life, now I'm just sentimental
You shone a light on my life, now I'm just sentimental
You have tried to resist the pain, but you know you're not alone
I have tried to resist the pain, but now I'm all alone
You shone a light on my life, now I'm just sentimental
You shone a light on my life, now I'm just sentimental
To numb the pain and stop the world spinning round and round
But how was I to know that in my mind I'm not so pure

Biffy Clyro - Mountains
Took a bite out of a mountain range,
Thought my teeth would break the mountain did.
Lets go, I want to go all the way to the horizon.
I took a drink out of the ocean and,
I'm treading water there before I drown.
Lets dive, I want to dive to the bottom of the ocean.
I took a ride, I took a ride, I wouldn't go there without you.
Lets take a ride, we'll take a ride. I wouldn't leave here without you.
I am a mountain, I am the sea, you can't take that away from me.
I am a mountain, I am the sea, you can't take that away from me.
'Cause you tear us apart, with all the things you don't like.
You can't understand that I won't leave 'til we're finished here
Thought my teeth would break the mountain did.
Lets go, I want to go all the way to the horizon.
I took a drink out of the ocean and,
I'm treading water there before I drown.
Lets dive, I want to dive to the bottom of the ocean.

You can't understand that I won't leave 'til we're finished here
And then you'll find out where it all went wrong.
I wrote a note to the jungle and it wrote me back that I was never crowned king of the jungle,
I wrote a note to the jungle and it wrote me back that I was never crowned king of the jungle,
So there's and end to my horizon.
I took a ride, I took a ride. I wouldn't go there without you.
Lets take a ride, we'll take a ride. I wouldn't leave here without you.
I am a mountain, I am the sea, you can't take that away from me.
I am a mountain, I am the sea.
'Cause you tear us apart, with all the things you don't like.
You can't understand that I won't leave 'til we're finished here
I took a ride, I took a ride. I wouldn't go there without you.
Lets take a ride, we'll take a ride. I wouldn't leave here without you.
I am a mountain, I am the sea, you can't take that away from me.
I am a mountain, I am the sea.
'Cause you tear us apart, with all the things you don't like.
You can't understand that I won't leave 'til we're finished here
And then you'll find out where it all went wrong.
Nothing lasts forever, except you and me.
Nothing lasts forever, except you and me.
(You are my mountain, you are my sea)
Love will last forever, between you and me.
Love will last forever, between you and me.
(You are my mountain, you are my sea)
I am a mountain, I am the sea, you can't take that away from me.
I am a mountain, I am the sea.
I am a mountain, I am the sea
I am a mountain, I am the sea, you can't take that away from me.
I am a mountain, I am the sea.
I am a mountain, I am the sea
