[Review] The Kills - Blood Pressures (English)

It has been three years since The Kills released their latest album, "Midnight Boom." During this hiatus, Alison Mosshart devoted herself to his other band, The Dead Weather.

But this wait was worth it. "Blood Pressure" is a good album, that incorporates the band's darker sound, which wasn’t so audible in the previous album, in which the songs had a more pop sound. As it has been customary, James Hince’s guitar effects make The Kills songs unmistakable.

Among the eleven songs that are on "Blood Pressures" there isn’t any bad song. Among the best stand out "Baby Says," the opening track, "Nail In My Coffin", "DNA" and "Satellite", the first two singles from the album, "You Don’t Own The Road" and "The Last Goodbye”. The last one deserves an outstanding note due to be a piano ballad, which is not usual to happen in this band’s songs.

Despite having a heavier sound, "The Heart Is Beating Drum" keeps the rhythm that we could hear in the previous album. "Wild Charm" is a song just sung by Hince, which takes us straight to the idea of having been inspired by the Beatles.

"Blood Pressures" may not be the most The Kills’ commercial album, or the heavier but is more balanced and I'm sure that will please fans of the band.

8/10
