The Antlers - Bear

There's a bear inside your stomach
The cub's been kicking from within
He's loud, though without vocal chords
We'll put an end to him
We'll make all the right appointments
No one ever has to know
And then tomorrow I'll turn 21
We'll script another show
We'll play charades up in the Chelsea
Drink champagne although you shouldn't be
We'll be blind and dumb until we fall asleep
None of our friends will come
They dodge our calls
And they have for quite a while now
It's not a shock
You don't seem to mind and I just can't see how

We're too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all

There's a bear inside your stomach
The cub's been kicking you for weeks
And if this isn't all a dream
Well then we'll cut him from beneath
Well we're not scared of making caves
Or finding food for him to eat
We're terrified of one another
And terrified of what that means
But we'll make only quick decisions
And you'll just keep me in the waiting room
And all the while I'll know we're fucked
And not getting unfucked soon
When we get home we're bigger strangers than we've ever been before
You sit in front of snowy television, suitcase on the floor

We're too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old, old, old at all

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Load up on guns,
Bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard self assured
Oh no I know, a dirty word.

Hello, hello, hello, hello?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, how low, how low?
Hello, hello, hello.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
i feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulato!
An Albino!
A mosquito!
My libido!
Yay! Hey! Yay!

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, hello?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, how low, how low?
Hello, hello, hello.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulato!
An Albino!
A mosquito!
My libido!
Yay! Hey! Yay!

And I forget just why I taste -
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello, hello, hello, hello?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, how low, how low?
Hello, hello, hello.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato!
An albino!
A mosquito!
My libido!

A denial!

Frank Turner: 'Rock'n'roll is a dumbed down art form'

Frank Turner has said he believes rock'n'roll is a "dumbed down art form", but that is why he likes it so much.

Speaking to Kerrang!, the ex-Million Dead frontman has said he believes that rock'n'roll celebrates a "desire to get drunk, dance, kiss pretty girls and stay up too late."

He said: "Rock'n'roll is a dumbed down art form and that's why I like it. I don't want it to be classical music or metaphysical poetry; I want it to be rock'n'roll."
"It's a celebration of the adolescent impulses that stay with us for the rest of our lives: that desire to get drunk, dance, kiss pretty girls and stay up too late. Whenever it gets deeper than that, people have missed the point."

Turner, who recently released his fourth solo album 'England Keep My Bones', announced his largest ever UK tour earlier this month.

U2 to sell their multi-million pound 'Claws'

U2 have approved calls to turn the giant claws currently being used as part of their stage set-up into permanent venues.

Following their Glastonbury performance last weekend, the band are due to wrap up their two-year 360 Tour up on July 30 in Canada. U2 tour director Craig Evans said three of the full, four-legged, 29,000-square-foot steel structures will be sold off.

"It's certainly our intention to see these things recycled into permanent and usable ventures," he told Billboard. "It represents too great an engineering feat to just use for [the tour] and put away in a warehouse somewhere."
The move comes after Mark Fisher, the tour's architect, appealed to the band to turn the giant claws into permanent venues, nearly two years ago. Each claw cost between £15m and £20m.

"[We are] now in discussions to send them into different places around the world and have them installed as permanent venues," Evans added. "Some major events have shown interest in these, from four different continents – and we haven't even really put the word out yet."

He said many buyers are interested in turning them into full interior pavilions and amphitheatres.

Bon Iver - Calgary

Don't you cherish me to sleep
never keep your eyelids clipped
hold me for the pops and clicks
i was only for the father's crib

Hair, old, long along
your neck onto your shoulder blades
always keep that message taped
cross your breasts you won't erase
i was only for your very space

Hip, under nothing
propped up by your other one, face 'way from the sun
just have to keep a dialogue
teach our bodies: haunt the cause
i was only trying to spell a loss

Joy, it's all founded
pincher with the skin inside
you pinned me with your black sphere eyes
you know that all the rope's untied
i was only for to die beside

So it’s storming on the lake
little waves our bodies break

There's a fire going out,
but there's really nothing to the south

Swollen orange and light let through
your one piece swimmer stuck to you

Sold, i'm ever
open ears and open eyes
wake up to your starboard bride
who goes in and then stays inside
oh the demons come, they can subside

Foxboro Hot Tubs - Sally

Well, come on baby take a chance
and get your shit together

Well, come on baby take a risk
until it comes out right

Drop your shadow on a subway wall
back in the saddle you can hear the call

Come on baby take a chance
and get your shit together

Well your illusion ain't a lie
it's a crime

Ride, ride Sally ride
Hop on and take a ride
on my motor bike

Singin', ride, ride Sally ride
like the speed of light on a road rage suicide

Well, now is the time
'cause I ain't got the time forever

Well, now is the time
so you better put up a fight

Drop your shadow on a subway wall
back in the saddle you can hear the call

Well, now is the time
cause I ain't got the time forever

Your illusion
ain't a lie it's a crime

Ride, ride Sally ride
Hop on and take a ride

Coldplay bring fireworks and lasers for their third Glastonbury headline slot

Coldplay brought a spectacular firework and laser show to Glastonbury tonight (June 25) as they played their third headline set at the festival.

Arriving onstage to the theme from Back To The Future, the band, who headlined the event in 2002 and 2005, opened their set with new song 'Hurts Like Heaven' after a spectacular firework display. They then played a career-spanning set, with material aired from each of their four studio albums, including 'Everything's Not Lost', which the band haven't played live for a number of years.

They played four new songs plus recent single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', which they ended their set with amid a laser show that lit the Pyramid Stage up in DayGlo colours.
Introducing new song 'Major Minus', Chris Martin asked the crowd to forgive them for playing new material, joking: "Please forgive us for playing new songs, one day they'll be your favourites, but now it's OK to be thinking, 'What the fuck?'"
The band were forced to halt and restart new tune 'Us Against The World' after Martin missed a cue, quipping: "Forget that fuck-up just happened. This is an open rehearsal. Let's forget this is a festival and we're supposed to be professional headliners."

Before 'Fix You' the singer performed his own version of Louis Armstrong's 'What A Wonderful World', with lyrics rewritten to fit
Glastonbury's muddy conditions. He also thanked Michael and Emily Eavis during the song and told the crowd: "Glastonbury is the best place to play in the whole world."

Coldplay played:

'Hurts Like Heaven'
'Yellow'
'In My Place'
'Major Minus'
'Lost!'
'The Scientist'
'Shiver'
'Violet Hill'
'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face'
'Everything's Not Lost'
'Us Against The World'
'Politik'
'Viva La Vida'
'Charlie Brown'
'Life Is For Living'
'Clocks'
'What A Wonderful World'
'Fix You'

Jarvis Cocker toasts Glastonbury 'feeling' at Pulp's 'surprise' show

Pulp returned to Glastonbury festival this evening (June 25) to play an epic set on The Park stage, billed as 'special guests' at the event.

Frontman
Jarvis Cocker made an impassioned speech about the festival during the show, which saw thousands of fans flock to the most northerly part of the Somerset site. It was the returning Britpop band's fourth appearance at Glastonbury, having played there in 1994, 1995 and 1998.

It was only fully
revealed this morning that Pulp were due to play the bash, with Arctic Monkeys and The Killers some of the names that had tongues wagging about potential star guests. Yesterday Radiohead played the 'special guests' slot at The Park.
When the band arrived on stage the sun was beating down on the site – in stark contrast to the rain that had fallen there the previous day and night. "We couldn't think of anything to get you so we brought the sunshine," Cocker quipped before opener 'Do You Remember The First Time?' .

The singer later made reference to
the news that police were hoping to test the sewage at the festival to find out which drugs, if any, the punters there had been indulging in. "They wanted to take samples from the toilets to see if there's drugs in there," he explained. "Firstly, who's going to take that sample? Secondly, fuck off. Everyone's in a field having a good time."
The band's setlist veered off course from their recent comeback shows, and included 'Acrylic Afternoons' and 'Live Bed Show', which the frontman explained the band hadn't played in a very long time. But they also found time for plenty of classics including 'Disco 2000', 'Sorted For E's & Wizz' and closer 'Common People'.

"Thanks
Glastonbury, obviously it's been a very important place for us," the singer said near the end of the show. "When we played in '95 things took off for us and we went in a strange orbit around the earth, and now we're back home in one piece."

He added: "When we played in '95 I told a speech, 'If you want something to happen enough then it actually will.' If lanky misshapes like us could headline
Glastonbury anyone could do it. Although that sounds corny it's true, it's in all of us. This is what this festival is about, it's bigger than a festival, it's a feeling.

"This is our fourth
Glastonbury, who knows, it would be nice to do five."
Pulp played:

'Do You Remember The First Time?'
'Joyriders'
'Razzmatazz'
'Acrylic Afternoons'
'Something Changed'
'Disco 2000'
'Sorted For E's & Wizz'
'Like A Friend'
'Babies'
'Mis-Shapes'
'Live Bed Show'
'This Is Hardcore'
'Sunrise'
'Common People'

Led Zeppelin - Tangerine

Measuring a summer's day
I only finds it slips away to gray
The hours, they bring me pain

Tangerine, Tangerine
Living reflection of a dream
I was her love, she was my queen
And now a thousand years between

Thinking how it used to be
Does she still remember times like these?
To think of us again?
And I do

Tangerine, Tangerine
Living reflection of a dream
I was her love, she was my queen
And now a thousand years between

U2 bring out the hits at Glastonbury headline show

U2 finally made their first ever appearance at a rain-lashed Glastonbury festival tonight (June 24).

The Irish band were due to headline the Pyramid Stage in 2010, but
cancelled and were replaced by Gorillaz after frontman Bono injured his back. They kicked off tonight's show with five songs in a row from their 1991 album 'Achtung Baby', flanked by huge video screens showing references to the band's 'Zoo TV' tour of the period.

Bono mentioned the non-event of last year, saying before 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For': "Sorry for calling in sick last time." He had earlier said to the audience, "It might be the leylines, but there's a very special feeling about tonight."
Before 'Beautiful Day' the video screens played a message from astronaut Mark Kelly, whose "Hello Glastonbury" message was greeted with loud cheers.

Bono also sang a snippet of the William Blake poem 'Jerusalem' before 'Where The Streets Have No Name'. He paid tribute to fellow
Glastonbury headliners Beyonce, Coldplay and Primal Scream by singing snippets of their songs 'Independent Women', 'Yellow' and 'Movin' On Up' respectively.
Primal Scream were headlining Glastonbury's Other Stage at the same time as U2's set.
The band finished their show with a version of 'Out Of Control' from their 1980 debut album 'Boy'.
U2 played:

'Even Better Than The Real Thing'
'The Fly'
'Mysterious Ways'
'Until The End Of The World'
'One'

Radiohead play ‘surprise’ Glastonbury show with sixth member

Radiohead played a 'surprise' show at Glastonbury festival tonight (June 24), billed as ‘special guests’ on The Park stage.

Playing on the same stage frontman Thom Yorke and guitarist Johnny Greenwood performed an unannounced set on at the festival last year, the band were joined by an extra live member, Clive Deamer, who played as a second drummer.

The gig was Radiohead’s first full band show in the UK since 2009, and was only confirmed this morning. Thousands flocked to The Park for the show, forcing staff to cut off access to the area as it reached capacity.

Arriving onstage just after 8pm (BST), Yorke addressed the crowd by saying: “Hello, we're called Radiohead. We're going to try and do some ’Kings Of Limbs’ and shit. We're still trying to figure out how to get people to sing along. Help us out.”

The band then played a set which leant heavily on their new LP ’The King Of Limbs’, with six tracks from that album aired, as well as 'Staircase', which they performed online last week. In terms of their pre-'In Rainbows' material, only 'I Might Be Wrong' and ’Street Spirit (Fade Out)’ were aired.
Yorke told the crowd that the band had only performed “so we could get free tickets” and thanked festival chiefs Michael and Emily Eavis a number of times. He dedicated 'The Daily Mail' to “all mellow, liberal, right-thinking people in the UK”.

Radiohead played:

'Lotus Flower'
'15 Step'
'Morning Mr Magpie'
'Little By Little'
'All I Need'
'Separator'
'Give Up The Ghost'
'Arpeggi'

Biffy Clyro say 'Fuck the rain with a big fat cock' at Glastonbury

Biffy Clyro played their first Pyramid Stage show at Glastonbury festival tonight (June 24), and had a stern warning for the weather. "Fuck the rain... with a big fat cock," said frontman Simon Neil before an acoustic version of 'Machines'.

Before the show bassist James Johnston spoke to NME about how the Scottish band had been "panicking" over their set, despite being festival veterans.

"We've played here a few times now, but never on the main stage, so now we're just panicking over what's going to work and what's not going to work," he said. "It's all kick off when we take our tops off... we're basically a rock band and we're really proud to bring a rock show to Glastonbury."
The show was indeed a typically topless affair for all three core band members. Neil flew in the face of the mud and the gloomy weather by sporting a pair of pristine pink Converse sneakers.
Neil sang the intro to Sunday night headliner Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love' during their 14-song set.

Biffy Clyro played:
'The Captain'
'That Golden Rule'
'Glitter & Trauma'
'Born On A Horse'
'God & Satan'
'Who's Got A Match?'
'Shock Shock'
'Know Your Quarry'
'Living Is A Problem'
'Bubbles'
'Machines'
'57'
'Many Of Horror'

Mumford & Sons play to massive Glastonbury crowd

Mumford and Sons played one of the biggest shows of their career so far tonight (June 24) at Glastonbury, second from top on the Other Stage at the Worthy Farm event.

The band attracted an enormous crowd to their show - but admitted before they played that the nerves of the occasion had got to them.

Singer Marcus Mumford told NME that the band were "shit scared" about their performance, despite having played the festival before. "We've basically spent the past four years shit scared," he said. "I'm more nervous this year than I was last year." The band played the John Peel Stage at the 2010 event.
Multi-instrumentalist Ben Lovett, also speaking before the show, said he was spending his Glastonbury weekend this year not on the band's tour bus, but in cottage near the site. "Jesus – that’s not the Ben I knew and loved," banjo player Winston Marshall quipped.
The band also talked about their second album, which they plan to record this summer, admitting that they still don't know which of the new songs they’ve been playing recently have made the final cut. “But we have a good solid bunch [of songs]," said Lovett. "In America we’ve been playing half new, half old, which means like, five or six new songs a night."
"We feel really urgent about it," added Marcus about getting around to recording the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Sigh No More’.
The band played for an hour and 15 minutes, during which they expressed their pleasure and surprise at having such a high profile slot. Lovett asked the crowd who would be watching Beyonce play on Sunday, leading Marshall to say: "But she clashes with The Streets, mate!"
Mumford and Sons played:

'Sigh No More'
'Winter Winds'
'Little Lion Man'
'Below My Feet'
'White Blank Page'
'Timshel'
'Hopeless Wanderer'
'Roll Away Your Stone'
'Lover Of The Light'
'Thistle and Weeds'
'Awake My Soul'

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea admits ‘dysfunctional’ period nearly caused band split

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has revealed that he considered leaving the band before they started work on their new album ‘I’m With You’.

The Chili Peppers will release the new LP, which is their first since 2006’s double album ‘Stadium Arcadium’, this August. But in an interview with Spinner, Flea admitted that he had had doubts over whether he wanted to continue in the band.

Flea, who requested that the band took two years off once they had finished touring ‘Stadium Arcadium’, said: “We've been going really hard for a lot of years with small breaks here and there, but never a major break. And I just felt like I wanted to take two years away just to really look and see if the band was something we should still be doing.
“Things had gotten dysfunctional and not fun, even though I thought we were making great records, doing great shows and were a really powerful, mighty thing as a band. I was proud of what we did. I thought we honoured our position in the rock world. I felt like we always gave our hearts, but we just needed to get away from it.”

However, he also revealed that his friendship with singer Anthony Kiedis inspired him to work on new material, adding: “I just realized, Anthony, man, he's my brother, I love him so much, and we started this band when we were kids. I wanted to keep that going, I never want to let that go.

“I said, ‘Together let's do this, let's make this album, I love you, and let's fucking rock.’ And as cliché as that might sound, I think for us as a band, and for he and I, both of us, we decided to do it.”

‘I’m With You’ will be the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s 10th studio album, and will be released on August 29. It will be their first record since 1995’s ‘One Hot minute’ not to feature former guitarist John Frusciante, who quit the band in 2009. He has been replaced by former touring guitarist and ex-Warpaint six stringer Josh Klinghoffer.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
And get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

I have become comfortably numb.

O. K.
Just a little pin prick.
There'll be no more AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. Good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

Radiohead confirmed to play Glastonbury Park Stage at 8pm tonight (June 24)

It's now official - Radiohead are set to return to Glastonbury as the secret act on the Park stage today (Friday 24 June).

Some "special guests" are listed as set to play there at 8pm (BST) - and the Oxfordshire quintet's spokesperson has confirmed that it is Thom Yorke and co who will be performing.

Last year, to mark the 40th Anniversary of the festival, Yorke and Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood surprised everyone with a secret spot on Park Stage, resulting in a completely packed field.

It seems as if this year's booking was a rather last-minute affair. Speaking to NME on Tuesday (June 20) festival organiser Emily Eavis said: “We are still unsure of exactly who is turning up, mainly because it's unconfirmed at the moment! I swear I have heard every rumour – even that Led Zeppelin are playing!"

The performance will mark Radiohead's fifth Glastonbury appearance, including the secret gig from the duo. The band made their Glastonbury début in 1994, before returning for their monumental headline gig in 1997, often voted Glastonbury's greatest set. Radiohead returned to headline in 2003, sharing top billing with their good friends REM.

U2 to re-issue 'Achtung Baby' as deluxe edition

U2 will mark the 20th anniversary of their classic album 'Achtung Baby' by re-releasing it in a deluxe package.

As reported by Rolling Stone the re-issues will feature a plethora of unseen footage and rare versions of some of their most famous hits.

U2 guitarist The Edge said "There's some very interesting alternative versions that we discovered of songs that wouldn't have seen the light of day" and described them as being "like 'Achtung Baby' out of focus."
Paul McGuinness, U2's manager, added: "If you pile a lot of extra material and packaging and design work into a super-duper box set, there are people who will pay quite a lot for it, so you can budget it at a very high level and pump up the value."

The Irish band are also working on an app for the iPad to tie in with the album's anniversary.

U2 are set to headline Glastonbury festival tonight (June 24). Earlier this week, drummer Larry Mullen Jr admitted that the band had had arguments over which songs they should play as part of their set.

Dissociates

Dissociates is a British post-punk band. The band consists of Daniel Stevens – Guitars & Vocals / Ned Mendez – Guitars & Backing Vocals / Gabriel Shepard – Bass / Julian Stevens – Drums & Backing Vocals.

They started playing together in 2008, because they were bored of all those bands who were “just treading water”. They wanted to hear “decent music, with a message played live”.

Some of their influences are Fugazi, Wire, Husker Du, Buzzcocks, Burning Airlines, Bad Brains and many other bands.

Dissociates will release a new EP, entitled “Flood This Town”, this summer, but there are already two tracks from it available for free download on their Bandcamp (http://thedissociates.bandcamp.com/) page.

I really like the Dissociates. It’s hard to find bands with so much energy like them and with such good lyrics, nowadays. So, I highly recommend that you start listening to them, I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Against Me! - I Was A Teenage Anarchist

I was a teenage anarchist
Looking for a revolution
I had the style, I had the ambition
Read all the authors
I knew the right slogans
There was no war but the class war
I was ready to set the world on fire
I was a teenage anarchist
Looking for a revolution

Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire

I was a teenage anarchist
But the politics were too convenient
In the depths of their humanity
All I saw was bloodless ideology
With freedom as their doctrine
Guess who was the new authority
I was a teenage anarchist
But the politics were too convenient

Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
When you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire

I was a teenage anarchist
But then the scene got too rigid
It was mob mentality
They set their rifle sights on me
Narrow visions of autonomy
You want me to surrender my identity
I was a teenage anarchist
The revolution was lie

Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
When you were young
And you wanted to set the world the fire
When you were young
And you wanted to set the world the fire

I was a teenage anarchist
I was a teenage anarchist
I was a teenage anarchist
I was a teenage anarchist
