Coldplay bring fireworks and lasers for their third Glastonbury headline slot

Coldplay brought a spectacular firework and laser show to Glastonbury tonight (June 25) as they played their third headline set at the festival.

Arriving onstage to the theme from Back To The Future, the band, who headlined the event in 2002 and 2005, opened their set with new song 'Hurts Like Heaven' after a spectacular firework display. They then played a career-spanning set, with material aired from each of their four studio albums, including 'Everything's Not Lost', which the band haven't played live for a number of years.

They played four new songs plus recent single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', which they ended their set with amid a laser show that lit the Pyramid Stage up in DayGlo colours.

Introducing new song 'Major Minus', Chris Martin asked the crowd to forgive them for playing new material, joking: "Please forgive us for playing new songs, one day they'll be your favourites, but now it's OK to be thinking, 'What the fuck?'"

The band were forced to halt and restart new tune 'Us Against The World' after Martin missed a cue, quipping: "Forget that fuck-up just happened. This is an open rehearsal. Let's forget this is a festival and we're supposed to be professional headliners."

Before 'Fix You' the singer performed his own version of Louis Armstrong's 'What A Wonderful World', with lyrics rewritten to fit Glastonbury's muddy conditions. He also thanked Michael and Emily Eavis during the song and told the crowd: "Glastonbury is the best place to play in the whole world."
