Kaiser Chiefs' "The Future Is Medieval" influenced by Oasis' "Be Here Now"

Nick Hodgson revealed that Oasis' 'Be Here Now' influenced the album, which was released on Friday (June 3).

"We all know that record has loads of problems, but at least it's got an attitude, unlike the twee and boring folk music that's so popular at the moment," he commented.

He also have revealed that they asked David Bowie for help with the lyrics to their new fan-compiled album 'The Future Is Medieval' - but rejected his contributions.

Speaking to the News Of The World, Hodgson revealed that they contacted Bowie through the record's producer Tony Visconti, who has worked with the Thin White Duke throughout his career.

"Tony texted David asking for his suggestions to finish off a verse [on 'Man On Mars'] and he came up with a couple of lines," Hodgson recalled.

"I'm such a big Bowie fan I can't believe I'm saying this, but they just weren't right, so I've missed out on a Hodgson/Bowie writing credit. Gutted!"
